Once upon a time, adoption was a taboo subject, but now, it's much more common and out in the open. As a result, in the past few decades, many famous stars have come forward with their own adoption stories, whether they were adopted as a baby or a young child.

Well-known country music singer and songwriter, Faith Hill, was reportedly adopted when she was an infant and lived in Mississippi, and had no contact with her birth family until later in life. Born as Tracy Lauren Morrow, Ice T is most known as a rapper with many hit songs and his current and long-time role on the hit show Law and Order SVU. Ice T lost both of his parents at a young age and was adopted and raised by his aunts.

Legendary musician, John Lennon, is one of many singers who were adopted as a child. After his father left, his mother realized she could no longer care for him. At this time he went to live with his aunt Mimi and her husband George. The couple later adopted him.

Sarah McLachlan has had an amazing career as a Canadian singer and songwriter and is most well-known for her heartfelt and sad ballads. She learned when she was only 9 years old that she had been adopted but states that she never felt that she did not belong with her adopted family.

Sonny John Moore, otherwise known as Skrillex, is an American DJ who has been a part of emo bands and is most known for his ability to mix some amazing tunes. When he was a teen, he discovered that he was adopted and that his biological mother was who he considered a family friend. He subsequently ran away from home, but later his feelings changed and he returned home.

Born as Angela Trimble, Debbie Harry is a well-known punk singer most known for her co-founding the famous group, Blondie. Although she was adopted when she was only 3 months old, she did not seek out her biological mother until she was an adult. Surprisingly enough, her mother wanted nothing to do with her even after learning her status as a famous musician.

Kristin Chenoweth is well-known as an American singer and actress who has made quite a career for herself over the years, especially in the Broadway Musical Wicked. Chenoweth was adopted when she was less than a week old and claimed that she has always known she was adopted and accepted it.

Jordan Fisher is an American actor, singer, and dancer who is most known for his win on the hit television series, Dancing with the Stars. He has openly told the story of his birth and how his mother gave him up when she was only 16 years old. He was subsequently adopted by his grandparents and was later joined by two other siblings who were also adopted.

Eric Clapton is a British guitarist and singer most well known for his work with Blues bands but he has also released several albums of his own. He was raised by his parents alongside his "sister" who he later learned was his birth mother. She reportedly gave birth to him when she was only 16 years old and he was then adopted and raised by his grandparents.

Although most people know Jamie Foxx as an award-winning actor, he is also an extremely successful singer. His birth parents were reportedly struggling to raise him and ended up giving him up to his grandparents when he was seven months old. Although he reconnected with his birth parents when he was an adult, he has harbored no hard feelings toward them.
