Kamala Harris Endorsements: Here’s Who’s Backing the VP in the Presidential Race | Glamour

Nov 03, 2024Nov 03, 2024

Hours after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, the Kamala Harris endorsements came rolling in. The current vice president and former California senator has the backing of government figures and celebrities alike, giving her a major head start over the competition.

Perhaps the biggest celebrity endorsement so far is from Taylor Swift, who endorsed Harris following the presidential debate on September 10.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote on Instagram alongside a photo in which she cuddles her cat Benjamin Button. “I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make.” She signed the post, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”—a reference to JD Vance’s comments about Harris which were resurfaced once she became the presumptive nominee.

Whether you’re a true stan or just want Trump to lose, there are plenty of reasons to publicly support Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for president. Some celebrities have articulated their reasons for supporting Harris, citing her accomplishments as a key member of the Biden administration, while others merely spread the message that she’s the best candidate for the job. Many are excited about the prospect of a woman—and especially a woman of color—in the Oval Office.

Here are all of Kamala Harris’s endorsements so far:

Musician Bad Bunny spoke out about his support for Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday, October 27, after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made a vile joke about Puerto Rico during a Trump rally in New York. Bad Bunny shared a video with his 45 million Instagram followers that shows Harris saying, “There’s so much at stake in this election for Puerto Rican voters and for Puerto Rico.”

After comedian and podcaster Tony Hinchcliffe made a despicable joke about Puerto Rico during a Trump rally in New York on October 27, a number of stars voiced support for the Harris-Walz ticket, including Jennifer Lopez. Beyoncé initially showed her support for Harris by allowing the vice president to use her song “Freedom” on the campaign trail. Then, on October 25, she officially endorsed Harris with a rare political speech during a Harris rally in Houston.

“I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother,” Beyoncé said, per the Associated Press. “A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided.

“Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what’s possible with no ceilings, no limitations,” she continued. “We must vote, and we need you.”

According to Billboard, Beyoncé told the crowd it’s time to “sing a new song” as a country. “The old notes of downfall, discord, despair no longer resonate,” she said. “Our generations of loved ones before us are whispering a prophecy, a quest, a calling, an anthem. Our moment is right now. It’s time for America to sing a new song. Our voices sing a song of unity. They sing a song of dignity and opportunity. Are y’all ready to add your voice to the new American song? Because I am.”

Destiny’s Child alums Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé arrived at the Harris rally hand-in-hand. “Houston, you’ve already had a hand in creating Destiny,” Rowland told the crowd. “So do what you do, and let’s do this thing again.”

The 2024 Glamour Woman of the Year Tina Knowles introduced Beyoncé and Rowland at the Houston rally on October 25. “I am honored to be back in Houston tonight, the city where my girls got their voices,” she said.
